Speak up – Audioboo

Audioboo

So, when I was at Jeecamp I was introduced to the Audioboo app on the iPhone and what a moment that was, it gives your the ability to record an interview, tag it with a photo and key words and then upload it to the internet. All this possible from one device, on the spot. I foresee it as being a very useful tool for use at Rebrick in the coming year – we can record interviews and upload to the internet for free.

So what are the advantages of being able to do this so quickly? Well in a bid to begin providing real time content for the new website, being able to provide on the spot interviews that are instantly available is a good start. Our readers / particiaptors can have access to information almost as soon as we do. The equipment required is straight forward to use and compact, so easy to carry around.

Other fantastic features mean that your ‘audioboos’ are included in the iTunes store for people to download as podcasts, so users won’t even have to go looking for the content, once they are subscribed they will be automatically updated when new content is available.

So keep your eyes (and ears) open in September when we will be interviewing players after games, election winners and getting ‘on the spot’ comment from Guild Officers and University staff on what issues are taking place on campus at the time.

Audioboo is just going to be one component of our overall approach to utilising social media and providing a far richer content selection for our users.

Don’t forget to subscribe to the RSS feed to keep up to date.

  1. It has also been pointed out to me by @jameswilliams8 that you can also use phoneboo, for those who don't have a iPhone. This means you can register a phone to your audioboo account and record directly to audioboo.
